The "orbs" on the left are normal mines. When an enemy runs over it, or when an opponent is
near and the bomb has proximity, it will explode and cause massive damage to
his / her ship. Additionally, shrapnel will be fired in all
directions, creating better odds of killing the enemy. There are four different bomb
levels : L1 to L4. A ship will only be able to get L4 weaponry when
flags or a
powerball. When a mine gets
repelled, it will turn into a bomb.
The bomb will have all the abilities of a normal bomb fired from the ship that dropped
the mine. The only exception is made for the bouncing ability, that will be lost when
laying any mine.
The mines on the right are EMP mines. These have the same characteristics as normal mines, plus the added feature that they deny an enemy ship to recharge for a short period of time on impact. This adds an element of surprise : players chasing you that get hit by the EMP shock will have to run for their lives. They could stand and fight, but they have such a large energy disadvantage that it's almost impossible to kill the other player. Something funny to try with mines is to place them very close to each other. It will look like one, maybe two mines if you do it good. Some players won't pay enough attention to something that looks like one mine, and instead of using a repel they will run through it, instantly killing themselves. This trick works best with L3 mines, which have a huge impact. Three of them are enough to kill any ship with full energy, although players are less likely to fly into an L3 mine on purpose. If people refuse to run into your mines, you might want to give them a little "push" in the right direction. Simply repel the player into the minefield. It's important to spread your mines instead of piling them up. This way, your enemy is more likely to hit at least a few mines. A trick to finish him off is to drop a portal on the other side of the mines. When he survives, just warp to the portal and blast him with your guns. You can also use this to repel them into the mines in the first place. Drop a portal, fly to the other side of the minefield, and wait for someone to pass between the portal and the minefield. Warp, repel, and boom, they're dead. |
