Bombs are your primary weapon most of the time. There are alot of different bombs, which should or shouldn't be used at the right time. There are four main bomb types : L1 (level 1) through L4. L1 bombs are pretty useless, while L4 bombs are devastating. The amount of energy required to fire bombs is different : L1 bombs don't use much, while L3 and L4 bombs will almost deplete your energy if you fire 3 in a row. L1 bombs are red, L2 yellow, L3 blue and L4 is purple. The bomb level is also important for the proximity range. A higher bomb level indicates a better proximity range. The maximum bomb level a ship can normally upgrade to is L3. L4 can only be obtained by picking up a flag or a powerball. In some zones, these items will dramatically upgrade your ship as long as you are carrying them. Your guns and bombs will be upgraded one level, they will require less energy to fire, and your ship will take less damage from enemy fire. Be aware though, these items are "hot" in such zones, and you should expect to have lots of people chasing you for those upgrades.

There are also other special bomb types, available only to people flying certain ships. One of them is the EMP bomb. EMP bombs inflict less damage than a normal bomb, and do not carry any shrapnel. Instead of this, all ships caught in the explosion will see it's recharging ability disabled for several seconds. This way, skilled players will be able to fend off any attack by an enemy by simply hitting them with an emp bomb. The enemy will most likely stop firing because he will need his remaining energy to survive long enough for the emp's effects to wear off. But beware : your teammates will are also affected by the effects, killing your teammates accidentally is commonly seen. Not do you only force your teammate to green up again, you'll also piss him off because you didn't look good enough before you fired your emp.

The other special bomb type is a bouncing bomb. These bombs will bounce off obstacles such as walls, asteroids, doors and the like. They will bounce one or more times (depends on which zone you are in), and will lose their bouncing ability after those number of bounces. Once they have lost their bouncing ability, they will change to normal bombs, and will explode when hitting the wall. Some ships will have bouncing bombs by default, while the other ones will not be able to get them at all. Some ships have bouncing bombs AND emp bombs, turning them into mean killing machines when in the hands of a skilled player.

Bouncing bombs are especially valuable in enclosed areas. You have a large advantage because you will be able to hit your opponent when he won't be able to hit you. It takes some time before you will learn when and how to fire your bombs to hit your target, but it's worth it. Especially in Warzone games, bouncing bombs can be the difference between victory or defeat for your team. Don't hesitate to get in a ship with bouncing bombs ; you'll notice that it's worth it.

The sound you hear when firing a bomb or dropping a mine is different for each type of bomb. Level 1 bombs will sound different than Level 3 bombs, and EMP mines will sound different than other mines. The one exception is that bouncing bombs and normal bombs make the same sound, as well as the mines (which are, in fact, exactly the same, since repelled mines don't become bouncing bombs again).

Bombs are very similar to mines, click here to read more about them.
