This is your radar display, which is located in the lower right corner of your screen. It displays the area around you, as well as the location of powerups, friendly and enemy ships or decoys, enemy mines, team-owned flags and the powerball. On top of the radar you see two things : the current local time, and your current location. The vertical axis of a map is divided into rows 1 to 20, and the horizontal axis is divided into columns named from A to T. You are currently at sector M14. When you are flying around, and you want to look at the entire map instead of just the small portion around you, then press and hold the ALT key. A large radar will now popup. On this display, You can only see the entire map, and the location of the powerball. You can't see any flags, enemies, mines and the like, because keeping track of all that would require too much bandwidth (especially with 100 players in a zone). Using your radar is critical in every zone you are in. It keeps you from flying into packs of enemies, and it tells you where to run to if you are in trouble. Keep a close eye on it ; it will save your skin many times. Also keep in mind that people using stealth are invisible on radar unless you turn on Xradar. |
All the "dots" below can be found on the radar above. Try to find them, so that you can recognize them when playing.
Big yellow flashing dot. This is YOU. You are always in the center of your radar, except if you are very close to the map border.
Yellot dot. This is a TEAMMATE. You will see teammates on your radar even if they have stealth engaged (stealth only affects enemy players).
Light-brown dot. This is a friendly decoy, belonging to either you or one of your teammates. Decoys ALWAYS show up on radar.
Dark-blue dot. This is an enemy ship or decoy with bounty lower than the target bounty you set.
Light-blue dot. This is an enemy ship with bounty equal to or higher than the target bounty you set. Killing players with a high bounty will earn you more points, and this is something you can use to find those players.
Red dot. This is an enemy flag carrier, or a decoy from an enemy flag carrier, OR an an enemy who is carrying a powerball.
Large red dot. This is an enemy carrying a powerball.
Large yellow dot. This is a teammate carrying a powerball. Note that this dot does not flash! The flashing dot in the center is yourself!
Brown-Red and yellow flashing dot. This is either the powerball, or a flag that your team posesses
White flashing dot. This is an enemy mine. There are very few ships capable of seeing mines on radar, so don't rely on it too much until you are sure your current ship does.
Green dot. This is a powerup known as "Green". If you are heading somewhere, try collecting a few without altering your course too much. An extra repel is always welcome.
