There are alot of different zones in SubSpace, which is quite unique in the entire online gaming system. Each zone has a different map, has different main objectives, and has different ship settings. Single shot kill zones exist, as well as balanced super zones with lots of things flying around. Some of these zones are more suited for new players than others. This list is meant for newbies to pick a zone of their choice to start in. The best thing new players can do is start in the Alpha Zone, a zone that is meant to be a place for new players to learn the basics of SubSpace. Below you will find a list of the most popular zones. To read more about a specific zone, click on the "More about this zone" link right below zone's description.

SSCX Alpha West SVS
Difficulty : Easy Features : None Website : Currently none
This is a zone meant to accomodate new players. I here, you get familiar with the controls while you fight other new players. This zone has a 2000 points limit ; if you get 2000 points and logout, then you can't back in the zone till after the score reset (bi-weekly). This is done to keep the better players from killing all the new players. SVS settings.

  • SSCE Chaos Expert
Difficulty : Medium Features : Flags Flags Website : http://chaos.subspace.net/
This zone is the sequal to the Alpha zone. The players in here are usually alot better than the players flying around in Alpha. If you feel you are good enough, and if you want a bigger challenge than Alpha, then you should try this out. SVS settings. There is also a flag available that allows for large "duck hunts". Although you don't get any points for carrying it, all the people chasing you will provide you with some easy kills.

  • SSCU Warzone
Difficulty : Hard Features : Flags Flags Website : http://www.ardua.org/wz
This zone is based around five flags that spawn at random places on the map. Multiple teams try to grab all the flags, hide them in their well-defended bases and win the jackpot. If you really want to learn how to play SubSpace, then you should try this zone out. It's filled with veteran players who know just about every trick in the book, so you can surely expect a tough fight in here. This is a teamplay-only zone, so don't start flying around on your own, because you'll spoil the game for the others. You would be better off doing that in the Chaos zone anyways, since the players there are alot easier to kill. SVS settings.

  • SSCX Powerball
    Difficulty : Hard Features : Powerball Website : http://subspace.spiritwood.com/
The powerball zone is definitely a unique zone in SubSpace. A soccer game with two goals, two teams, one powerball, a mirrored map and dozens of quality players. Everything looks so plain and simple, but it's not what Powerball is. There's so much playing depth in here that you could play in here for months and still get your ass kicked because the other team made a fancy move you never saw before. Make sure that you know how to survive in Chaos though; If you can't, then you surely won't live long in here.

  • SSCX Paintball
Difficulty : Easy / Medium Features : Powerball Flags Flags Website : http://www.subspace.net/paintball
Back in the early days, this zone was the first non-VIE zone that became popular. The zone is much like Powerball : you have to shoot the ball in the opponent's goal. The things that make this zone special are the settings : One shot kills, special repels, and ships with very specific purposes. They all make this zone alot of fun to play in. If you like team-oriented games where individual skills are critical too, then you should give this zone a try.

  • SSCX Extreme Games
Difficulty : Easy / Medium Features : Powerball Flags Flags King of the Hill Website : http://www.subspace.net/eg
This zone is completely different than all the other zones. It is a flagging zone with a great map using one of the best tilesets in SubSpace. The settings are pretty fast, but lag doesn't seem to be a problem in here. This isa zone made for trick-shots, especially because bouncing bombs are abundant here. There are lots of other things you can do in this zone, like King of the Hill, Powerball and other things. This is a zone really worth checking out. It's Relatively easy to rack up your kills, but it will take more than some dueling skills to prove yourself in the flagging part of the game.

  • SSCX A Small Warzone
    Difficulty : Medium / Hard Features : Flags Flags Website : http://www.aswz.net/
This zone is exactly what the name says : A Small WarZone. Several bases are located on the map around a large spawning area. There's a border around all this, and that's what makes this zone so special. This border makes the entire level more compact, centralizing the action in a smaller space. The settings are basically similar to SVS, although you wouldn't think of that at first. Each ship has extremely specific qualities and tasks, making this zone one where everybody can enjoy his own playing style.

  • SSCU Trench Wars
    Difficulty : Easy / Medium Features : Flags Flags Website : http://www.trenchwars.com/
This zone is some kind of simulation of a real war, with both parties entrenched. Stick your head out of the hole once, and you're toast. Artillery moves slowly towards your base, and maneuvrable "bombers" fly around and nail every enemy they see. This is definitely a one-shot-kill zone. There is one large base, with one flag in the hard-to-reach flagroom. Teams battle for control over the flag, which will give your team a periodic award and gives you extra points for killing someone. Trench Wars is currently the zone with the largest population, both peak and average.

  • SSCU Death Star Battle
    Difficulty : Easy / Medium Features : Flags Flags Website : http://www.deathstarbattle.com/
The name says it : This zone is based around the Death Star from Star Wars. There is one large Death Star where all the fighting takes place. Inside there are flags scattered all over, and that's what it's all about. Those flags will give you a periodic award. The more flags you have, the more points you get. Two teams (the Rebels and the Imperials) continuously fight to gain control over them. This zone is certainly fun to play in, although the lag can be a pain sometimes.

  • ExS Oklahoma Badlands
Difficulty : Medium Features : Powerball Flags Flags King of the Hill Website : http://www.okbadlands.com/
This is a flagging zone, using narrow bases to keep the flags safe. It's quite possible for two people to fend off entire teams because of the limited maneuvering space. The settings are like Extreme Games with a faster fire rate. Although it's not one of the popular zones, it's worth a try it you want something different than the rest of the zones.

  • SSCU 17th Parallel
Difficulty : Medium Features : Powerball Flags Flags Website : http://www.17thparallel.com/
This zone is about as old as Trench Wars, but because of numerous server difficulties it never established a large player base. The settings are really versatile, combining elements from Death Star Battle, Chaos zone, Trench Wars and Extreme Games. The zone is based on playing soccer, with the goals located in two mid-sized bases. Although the settings are a bit unbalanced, it's a fun zone to play in.

  • If you are playing in a zone that isn't listed here, and you want it to be, then mail me and I will include one in the next update. Your zone must be reasonably populated though, or I won't make the review. This is because I don't want to waste my time on zones that will probably be gone in a month or two.
