I'm a 21 year old guy from The Netherlands. I'm a student, and I'm currently in my second year (out of 5) of Computer Science (= programming). It's quite fun most of the time, so this might become what I will be doing for a living in the future (although a job as a sysadmin appeals to me as well :)) The first time I logged onto the Internet was around June 1997. I spent my time chatting at Westwood, and I didn't really do anything else, until I stumbled upon SS. It was around January '98 that I started playing, and after v1.33 and 1.34 came out, I continued playing with the crack. I started playing in Chaos for a bit, but soon after that I moved to the famous Paintball zone. When Paintball was empty, I was often found in A Small Warzone and Extreme Games. And then VIE died, and the cheaters came... The population dropped from about 2500 average (probably even more, I never cared to notice back then) to about 300 average. I was really pissed about this, and you can imagine that I was happy to hear the Priitk put a banning system in place. I had only been helping players at the Tech Support boards until then. I noticed that there was no decent newbie guide for SubSpace. There were some guides for experienced players (Rincewind, who also happened to be a dutchie, woohoo :)), but those contained stuff a newbie could only dream of. That's when I really started loving this great game, and I started making this guide around August '99. Because school and other things took alot of my time, It took me about four months to finish the whole thing. I have been adding sections ever since, as you can read in the News Archives. The Fastcounter was added at the end of 1999, and it reads well above 55k hits at this moment (25k/year). I'm glad that I got the opportunity to make this site, and I'm even happier that people appreciate and use it. At the moment I play alot of Powerball, and an occasional battle in Trench Wars with an old SubSpace friend of mine. The rest of my time is spent in trading / selling M:tG cards, toying around with my personal homepage, talking trash in IRC and to people on my ICQ list, and collecting music. I'm also a teacher at the local chess school, and I am the sysadmin of the local theatre (one of the best in Holland, by the way :)). Well this pretty much summarizes "me".
