SubSpace/Continuum
Username
& Squadname Retrieval
NOTE: There is a link at the bottom of this page that will open the form in a new window. This is done in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, a few more people will actually read this information. Ensure that you have all pop-up blockers disabled before you click the link or click here.
Purpose:
To
provide a way for SubSpace/Continuum users to retrieve lost usernames, reset
forgotten passwords, and maintain squadname ownership.
Persons Involved:
Operators:
Mackieman – mackie@ssbase.com
- Principal Operator
BlueGoku - devoit@gmail.com - Support Operator
The support operator team has
been established to facilitate the immediate response to requests thereby
minimizing loss of game time due to lost passwords. Please note that the Principle
Operator should not be directly contacted for issue resolution; support operators
may be contacted in game but it should be noted that processing any request
first requires a ticket to be filed.
Administrators:
Ghost Ship – Full Billing Operator
PriitK - Full Billing Operator
These
individuals are listed for legitimacy. Please do not contact them for username
or squadname issues.
Procedures and Guidelines for Use:
In order
to maintain some order in how we manage usernames and passwords, the following
procedures, guidelines, and criteria have been developed:
Section I – Usernames
Users may request lost usernames
and password resets by using the request ticket form available on SSBase.Com.
The following information will be required for a request to be successfully
completed:
- The
username to be retrieved
- A
current, valid username for the player making the request
- A
current, valid e-mail address for the player making the request
Additionally, the following criterion must be satisfied:
Please note that at no time will a billing operator request your
account password. This information is not viewable for security reasons; it can
only be changed. If all of these criteria are satisfied, the request will be
processed and the user requesting the name will receive a ?message in the game
with the required information, and an e-mail explaining that the request has
been processed.
Rationale: By checking the IP and MID information on both usernames and ensuring
a match, we can keep confusion and fraudulent claims to a bare minimum.
Section
II – Squadnames
Squadnames are a different matter than usernames and require more specific checks before a
squad owner is changed. The following information will be required for a request to be successfully completed:
- A
current, valid username for the player making the request
- A
current, valid e-mail address for the player making the request
- The
squadname being requested
- The
current squad password
Additionally, the following criteria must be satisfied:
- If the
squad has current and active members, at least one of those members must
verify that the player requesting control of the squad is in fact the squad
owner.
- The squad owner must display as *UNKNOWN* when using ?squadowner
-
The username submitting the request will be granted ownership
of the squad
The squad
password will be tested and verified to be working. If the squad has become
orphaned and the user has the current squad password, that user will be
re-granted squad ownership. If these criteria are satisfied, the request will be
processed and the user requesting the squad will receive a ?message and an
e-mail with the required information.
Rationale: By verifying the integrity
of the squad password and verifying with current squad members if any exist,
there is a reasonable assurance that the request is not fraudulent.
Filing A Ticket:
At the bottom of this page is a link to
the ticket request form. Submitting a claim on this form will generate a ticket
in the Ticket Support System on SSBase.Com. Users can view the latest updates
to their ticket by using the link provided via e-mail or on the SSBase menu.
Ticket updates will be sent to the e-mail address filed with the ticket. Approved
requests will have the reset password information sent in-game via ?message
to the username that submitted the request. E-mail updates with password information
will not be sent because e-mail is an insecure medium.
Exceptions and Other Information:
This service is provided as a
courtesy for the legitimate use of the SubSpace/Continuum population. The
Principal Operator has discretion in all matters, and may approve and/or deny
requests in accordance with SSC Billing Network Policy. The billing operators
reserve the right to approve and/or deny any request that is deemed to be
fraudulent, lacking sufficient evidence, or otherwise incomplete.
Requests
from users that want their active account reset so that they can change their
e-mail address will not be honored. Name trading is discouraged and will not be
supported through this system. Users may request the phonetic case of a name be
changed or a password be reset, but entire names will not be reset for this
reason.
It is important for the user to
understand that those requests that do not meet the requirements listed above
will not be approved. Furthermore, requests that are received incomplete or
with missing information will not be processed, and requests sent directly
to operators via e-mailwill not be processed. A ticket must be submitted for
action to be taken on a request.
User
accounts are private information and should not be shared with other
individuals. If a user has acquired sufficient information to submit a claim
that appears to be valid but is fraudulent, that request will most likely be
processed. It is the player’s responsibility to maintain their account and all
corresponding information. These guidelines may be revised or changed at any
time without prior warning. The date of last revision will be shown in the
bottom right of this page.
